Student answer (Band 6.5)

In todays era there is a lot of competition in all fields and it seems in schools too. some people belive that its good to have competiotion in all working fields and also in education sector while other believe that this shouldnt been happend and citizen should cooperate more.

In my point of view it can depend on factor wheter the competiton is for good or for bad. if a workers worked in a company and he want to be manager some day this type of competition are good. if there are competion to make others degrade or to make them uncomfortable than this not called as competition. Peoples should cooperate more with others and show respect toward other.

While on the other hand in schools competion between students can be benefitical for students. if a student make efforts to get good score in exams than its a positive sign that childern make efforts at very young age.

According to my thoughts competion can be good at some extent like if you want to be a professional in your field if you want to earn good then you should show competition. But if the competion is to make others degrade or make their fun than its not acceptable. For example i worked in a company for past few years as a graphic designer. while i wass working at that company there are many colleuges of mine who was earning more than me i always thought that i can also that and make same amount of money. Then i work hard and got promotion form graphuc desigher to a web developers i didnt stop there now i am working hard to get new skill or to learn new skill amd i know that i can get in few months.

Overall competition is good if its for yoour own good or for the betterment of the career if competion is to make others uncomforatble than this type of competition should be eliminated form work or schools.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both competition and cooperation while providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding competition in schools is limited to a single sentence about exam scores. The personal example provided is relevant but lacks depth in connecting the specific experience to the broader societal debate. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments, ensuring that the distinction between healthy and unhealthy competition is explored with more analytical rigor rather than just listing examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and sometimes repetitive. Phrases like 'In my point of view' and 'While on the other hand' are used, but the transition between ideas within paragraphs is often abrupt. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect sentences, which makes the flow feel somewhat disjointed. Improving the use of referencing (e.g., using 'this' or 'such practices' to refer back to previous points) would significantly enhance the logical progression of your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'make', which limits the sophistication of your expression. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'colleuges', 'graphuc', and 'desigher', which, while not impeding communication, indicate a lack of control over more complex vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic synonyms to express your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'if a workers worked', 'colleuges... who was earning'), tense consistency, and missing articles are prevalent throughout the text. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and apostrophes (e.g., 'shouldnt been happend'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
