Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people believe that competition at work, at school, and in daily life is a good thing. Others think that we should try to help each other, rather than competing against. This essay will discuss both points.
First and foremost, Competition at work, at school and in daily life is very good thing it encourage the participant to perform well to become better from other. Everything in this world wants to become stable for instance, at school students compete in exam and every student wants to gain first position in class that's why they prepare very well for it. In daily life people wants to become more financially strong to fulfill their desire. Moreover, at work worker wants promotion to become better from other workers.
Furthermore, it is good to try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. It makes to feel you happy when you help someone for example, at school if someone classmate can not understand something and they deliberately do not tell him just because of he may get higher score it is bad they should help him. Moreover, if in daily life someone help others to start their business and they help him he may become successful.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention examples like students competing for grades or workers seeking promotions, these points are not fully extended or explored in depth. The conclusion repeats the main points rather than synthesising them effectively. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more detailed explanation of why competition or cooperation is beneficial, rather than just listing examples. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack the necessary depth to fully satisfy the requirements of a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between ideas is slightly disjointed. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one, creating a smoother transition of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use words like 'good', 'help', and 'become'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. While the meaning is clear throughout, the lack of variety in word choice limits the score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and academic collocations. For example, instead of repeating 'good thing', you could use 'advantageous', 'beneficial', or 'a driving force'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'worker wants', 'competition help'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'become better from other'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your accuracy.
