Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both competition and cooperation while providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument that competition fosters problem-solving is mentioned but not deeply explored with specific, nuanced examples. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, merely restating the prompt rather than synthesizing the arguments. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure your position is consistently maintained throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'Moreover', but the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical transitions and repetitive sentence structures. Some linking words are used incorrectly, such as 'Although, humans cooperation...' where the punctuation and structure are awkward. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking phrases to connect sentences more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good thing' and 'a lot of', which are repetitive. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'peers always passionate' (should be 'are passionate') and 'educational departments'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition. While your meaning is always clear, the lack of sophisticated or less common lexical items keeps the score in the mid-range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'humans cooperation'), missing articles, and incorrect capitalization (e.g., starting sentences with lowercase letters). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas and apostrophes (e.g., 'that`s'). While these errors do not prevent communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve your writing.
