Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people think that competition is a good thing for human life for example: at work, school and in daily life. Others think we should work together, rather than competing with each other. We will look at both sides.
People who think friendly competition is necessary. This because they think vying with each other makes people more competitive and it teaches people a lesson. For example, when we go to school or work there is a person who is better than you and you are trying to get above them. It helps people to create a better version of themselves.
But some people believe cooperation is more efficient than competition against each other. I agree with this view because working together trains teamwork skills and we have to listen to other people's opinion. For example, we always face difficulties in our everyday life and we can't get over it without other individuals help. That is why I prefer to collaborate with individuals.
Both sides have good points, but I think cooperating with each other is more effective. One of the reasons is everyday difficulties I mentioned earlier. Another biggest motive is coordination ability because It helps people to understand other people's idea or suggestion and this skill always stays you until you die.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas are relevant, they are presented in a somewhat simplistic manner. For instance, the explanation of why competition is beneficial is brief and lacks a concrete, well-developed example. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and specific illustrations to ensure the response is fully developed and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a basic attempt at logical progression, moving from the introduction to the two viewpoints and finally the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'For example' is used twice in a similar way). The transition between sentences is occasionally abrupt, and the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words such as 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'on the other hand' to better connect your ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple terms like 'good thing,' 'better,' and 'everyday life.' While these words communicate your meaning clearly, they do not demonstrate the range required for a higher band score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise and academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'incentivize,' 'collaborative environment,' or 'mutual goal.' There are no significant spelling errors, but the lack of variety in word choice prevents a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'This because they think' (missing 'is'), 'other individuals help' (missing possessive 's'), and 'stays you until you die' (incorrect collocation). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct use of articles, and refining your sentence structure to include more complex, error-free clauses.
