Student answer (Band 6.5)

Competition has been regarded as one of the most important aspect in modern society. With population growth and technological innovation, competition is increasing day-by-day in every field of life. However, different perspectives exist on this topic, i firmly believe that sustainable and balanced approach is the most effective way for positive growth and well being.

On the one hand, supporters of the first view point argue that positive competition at work, school and in daily life isa good thing. By such approach, zeal and zest to grow in a community will be flourished. The more skilled persons will be produced, more discoveries will happen. Consequently, this will not only causes economic strength but also produces ideal society.

On the other hands, advocates of the second view point contend that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. In this part, negative side of competition is discussed. This can be resulted in the form of terrorism, bloodshed, assulation, long lasting family problems. Therefore, there will be a lot of public rage, dishonesty, public dissatisfaction. Youth's energy will be wasted and create dangerous consequences in the community. we should avoid competative activities in negative side.

In conclusions, although both views have considerable merists and demerits, i remained convinced that positive competative strategy is very helpful for exceling in the world because world support most expert and organized societies. Government, institutions and public should collaborate with each other to prepare the most efficient structure for public satisfaction, national and international growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task, providing arguments for both competition and cooperation, and clearly states a personal position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument against competition mentions extreme consequences like 'terrorism' and 'bloodshed,' which are not well-supported or logically connected to the context of work or school. The ideas are presented but lack depth and specific, relevant examples to fully convince the reader. The conclusion reiterates the position, but the overall development remains at a general level rather than exploring the nuances of the prompt in detail.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hands,' and 'In conclusions,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In this part, negative side of competition is discussed.' Additionally, there are minor errors in referencing and pluralization (e.g., 'On the other hands'). While the structure is coherent, the flow between sentences could be improved to sound more natural and sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts at using academic terms like 'sustainable,' 'innovation,' and 'merits.' However, there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation, such as 'zeal and zest... will be flourished' (should be 'will flourish') and 'assulation' (likely a misspelling of assault). The phrase 'world support most expert' is also imprecise. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, the lack of precision and occasional errors in word formation prevent the response from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'one of the most important aspect' (should be 'aspects'), 'this will not only causes' (should be 'cause'), and 'i remained convinced' (should be 'I remain'). Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent, particularly with the lowercase 'i' used for the first-person pronoun. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they are frequent enough to demonstrate a lack of full control over complex structures.
