Student answer (Band 7.0)
Competition is a positive way of growing if done moderately and showing a fair play in it. Many people believe that competition at work and school and even in daily life is a positive motivation, while others argue that people should cooperate more, rather than competing against everyone. I contend people should have slight sense of competition in their daily life and still be cooperative to others.
The competition helps grow people if taken positively. If a person thinks of his friends and colleagues as rivals then this can lead to a lot of effort in the school for academic points and leads to more promotional opportunities in work as the person starts working hard and, hard work is the key to success. The students stay up late doing preparation for their exams and do a lot of other test exercises thinking their rival is also doing them and studying so they want to stay ahead of them in their daily tasks, which is really helpful in turning their lives later, helping them end up in their desired college or university.
All is fair in love and war is a saying people use mostly when competing against their competitors. Nevertheless, this must not be followed. The people who are working under the same roof or those studying in a same room must cooperate with each other and never do anything in a competition to harm their rival to win a small contest or just to receive a promotion in the working area. The working environment demands you to be nice to each other as you will still be seeing the other party and your peace may be disturbed if you have to work in the same place after going through rough competition.
In conclusion, the competition is good if taken moderately and must not resort to extreme measures, while trying to reach any target or trying to get a promotion. Cooperation is a must while working or studying with same people so trying to be nice helps in building good rapport with colleagues and classmates.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the benefits of competition and the importance of cooperation, while clearly stating a personal position in the introduction. The ideas are relevant, such as the link between competition and academic/professional success, and the need for a healthy work environment. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second and third paragraphs. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more specific, nuanced examples or explore the implications of these concepts more deeply rather than restating the same points in different ways.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Nevertheless' and 'In conclusion', but some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the link between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother to better contrast the two viewpoints. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, though the internal structure of the paragraphs could benefit from more varied linking words to improve the flow of arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'promotional opportunities', 'rapport', and 'extreme measures'. However, there are some instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'growing people' instead of 'personal growth' or 'doing a lot of other test exercises'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing like 'competition' and 'cooperate' throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'showing a fair play in it' (should be 'showing fair play'), 'in a same room' (should be 'in the same room'), and 'the competition is good' (the article 'the' is unnecessary here). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to article usage and prepositional phrases. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while ensuring they remain error-free would also help boost your score.
