Student answer (Band 6.5)
The world is evolving day by day. Therefore, some individuals think that competition is a good thing at work, at school and in daily life. While, others believe that the cooperation is better than competition. This essay will discus both perspectives before presenting my opinion.
On the one hand, As the competition plays major role to trigger an ignition in a person to compete and win, it helps to improve the performance. And when the person wins, he not only feels proud on his self but also get motivated for other competition. That is why, nowadays, in most of the private companies organises certain competitions to make their employee more brighter. For instance, many software companies organise Hackathon (Competition of software engineers). Also, in schools, when a student ranks first in class with good marks, he feels motivated and tries to gain more score to maintains his position. Which is helpful for their future as well.
On the other hand, the cooperate nature fosters more friendliness and peaceful way to deal with conditions. It is beneficial to make a peaceful society. There are certain activities which requires for cooperative nature rather than competitive such as group activities, voluntary work or at the management of certain type of events.
In conclusion, as the number of benefits of competitive nature is high at workplace and the qualities are required certain activities, I believe that both type of environment are equally important. Competitive nature for workplace s and schools and for daily life cooperative nature is beneficial.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both competition and cooperation and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples like 'Hackathons' and school rankings, the explanation of why cooperation is beneficial is quite brief and lacks specific examples or depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph fully explores the implications of the arguments rather than just listing them. Your position is clear throughout, which is a strength, but the overall depth of analysis is more characteristic of a Band 6.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Which is helpful for their future as well', which is a sentence fragment. Additionally, the use of referencing could be improved to ensure smoother flow between sentences. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be more sophisticated to achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'evolving', 'fosters', and 'voluntary work'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'make their employee more brighter' (should be 'brighter employees') and 'the cooperate nature' (should be 'cooperative nature'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on using collocations correctly and expanding your range of academic vocabulary to avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the cooperation'), subject-verb agreement ('companies organises'), and sentence fragments ('Which is helpful...'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To move to a higher band, you need to demonstrate more consistent control over complex structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips, particularly regarding pluralisation and verb forms.
