Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 171 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly, the prompt asks to discuss both competition and cooperation. You have focused almost exclusively on competition, failing to address the benefits of cooperation as requested. The ideas provided are repetitive and lack the depth required for an academic essay. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed with balanced arguments and sufficient supporting evidence to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction or conclusion, and the body paragraphs are not clearly delineated. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'and' and 'some time' to start sentences. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences are loosely connected and lack logical flow. To improve, you should use clear paragraphing to separate your introduction, the two sides of the argument, and your conclusion. Incorporate transition words like 'however', 'furthermore', and 'on the other hand' to link your ideas more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, relying on basic words like 'good', 'work', and 'properly'. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'compitition', 'anergetic', 'ther', 'statment', 'proply', 'maneger', 'aur', and 'socity'. These errors, combined with the limited range of vocabulary, make it difficult to convey complex ideas. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary to include more precise, academic terms related to the topic and focus on accurate spelling. Avoid using informal or conversational phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. For example, 'from these the people become anergetic' is syntactically unclear. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, and punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with commas and spacing. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct subject-verb agreement, and learning how to combine simple sentences into more complex, grammatically correct structures.
