Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the arguments for competition are stated multiple times in different ways (e.g., 'forces individuals to work hard' and 'know which one is capable') without significant expansion or concrete examples. The opinion is present but lacks depth, and the conclusion is brief. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more specific, well-supported examples rather than repeating the same general points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or missing. Transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt, such as the jump from 'They believe in everywhere in the world' to 'In education, sports and even in medical competition is everywhere.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow of ideas within paragraphs feels disjointed. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' 'on the other hand') would help create a smoother progression of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'delighted one gets the permotiont' (promotion) and 'competition is occurs.' The range is limited, and the essay relies on basic vocabulary to express complex ideas. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary. Avoid informal phrasing like 'the way of life' in this context and work on spelling accuracy, as errors like 'permotiont' and 'ourselve' detract from the professional tone of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'competition is occurs'), missing articles, and incorrect word forms (e.g., 'comparing is wrong however competition is a different thing'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors would be highly beneficial.
