Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, competition become a common in every field of life. Some argue that competition at work and in daily life is a good thing. Other people believe that competition is not a good thing we should cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. In my opinion cooperate is better than the competing with each other. I will discuss the both views.
On the one hand, some argue that competition is a good thing in every field because people become more responsible and focused for their work. The competition in the school is a good thing. If students compete with each other they get a good mark in the exam. They try their best to getting the good marks. Every students want to achieve the highest marks so, they compete with each other. The competition in the workplace is also a good, The employs complete their work before the due date.
On the other hand, some people think that cooperate is more batter than the competing with each other. In the workplace if employs cooperate with each other they easily complete their work. Nobody could find any difficulty during the work if everyone cooperate with each other. In the school if students cooperate with each other they easily solve their problems. Every student get the good grades with the help of each other.
To conclude with, in my opinion cooperation is better than the competition. People have different views about the competition and cooperation. The competition at work, at school and in daily life is a good thing. The teamwork is better than the individual work.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the arguments regarding school and work are mentioned in both body paragraphs but lack depth or specific examples to fully support the points. The conclusion is a bit contradictory, as it states that competition is a good thing despite the author previously arguing that cooperation is better. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete examples rather than simply restating the same concepts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used correctly, but the transitions between sentences within paragraphs are often abrupt. For instance, the sentences in the second paragraph are short and lack logical connectors to show the relationship between the ideas. Improving the flow by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to previous nouns would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is significant repetition of basic words such as 'competition', 'cooperate', 'good', and 'work'. Some word choices are also inaccurate, such as 'cooperate is more batter' (better) and 'employs' (employees). To improve, you should focus on using synonyms and more sophisticated collocations. For example, instead of repeating 'good thing', you could use terms like 'beneficial', 'advantageous', or 'conducive to success'. Expanding your vocabulary will help you express your ideas with more nuance and clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors. Frequent issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'competition become', 'Every students want'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'cooperate is better' instead of 'cooperation'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, you should practice using a wider variety of complex structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules like verb tense consistency and pluralization.
