Some people argue that competition at work, at school and in every day life is a good thing. While others, are of the opinion that people should cooperate instead of competing against each other. This essay will discuss both views and give a relevant examples.

On one hand, people compete at work, schools, and daily life for various reasons. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, though the opinion is somewhat brief and lacks depth. The ideas regarding competition and cooperation are relevant, but the development is inconsistent. For instance, the discussion on competition is a bit repetitive, focusing heavily on personal experience rather than broader societal implications. While the prompt is addressed, the conclusion is quite abrupt and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument that directly links back to the prompt's core question, and ensure your own position is clearly stated and consistently maintained throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'Well, all these can some times increase...'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly with the use of 'all these' and 'that'. While there is a clear attempt to use linking words like 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand', the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more variety and precision to reach a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher score. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'theme mates' (likely meaning 'teammates'), 'riff' (likely meaning 'rift'), and 'burst the brain' (which is an inappropriate idiom in this context). The student relies on fairly basic vocabulary and struggles with collocations. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to workplace and educational environments and practice using these words in their correct context to avoid unnatural phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'its great benefits is'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'reason because i saw that'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
