Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal position in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument for competition mentions 'self-growth' and 'problem-solving' but does not explain how these occur in a convincing way. The example of students competing in class is vague. The conclusion is slightly confusing, as it mentions that competition is significant for development but then immediately pivots to the negative impacts of conflict without fully integrating this into the overall argument. To improve, you should provide more detailed explanations and concrete, well-developed examples for each viewpoint.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between and within them is often mechanical. While you use transition words like 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', the logical progression is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and sentence structure. For instance, the transition from the benefits of competition to the benefits of cooperation feels abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence where 'this statements' lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the use of cohesive devices to link ideas more fluidly would significantly enhance the readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'good thing', 'get', and 'things', which limits the sophistication of your argument. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'race in every field of life' (instead of 'compete') and 'facilitates to get' (which is grammatically incorrect). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic collocations and precise vocabulary to express your ideas, rather than relying on repetitive or overly simple phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'a students do competition'), missing articles ('in different work places'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'it facilitate us to get access to those things which are suppose to be impossible'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and misplaced commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately without losing the intended meaning.
