Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0

The response is significantly under the required 250-word minimum, reaching only 88 words. Consequently, the task is addressed only minimally. While you state a preference for competition, the discussion of the opposing view (cooperation) is virtually non-existent, and the arguments provided are underdeveloped and lack supporting examples or depth. To improve, you must expand your response to meet the word count, ensure you discuss both perspectives thoroughly, and provide clear, logical arguments for your own position. Currently, the response fails to meet the basic requirements of an IELTS Academic Task 2 essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response lacks paragraphing and a clear structure. There is no introduction, body, or conclusion, which makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are almost entirely absent, and the connection between the initial prompt and your personal opinion is abrupt. To improve, you should organize your essay into at least four paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs (one for each view), and a conclusion. Use linking words such as 'however', 'furthermore', and 'consequently' to connect your ideas logically and improve the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. There are errors in word choice, such as 'thing' instead of 'think' and 'benefical' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, relying on simple, everyday language. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and collocations related to the topic of competition and cooperation. Focus on using precise terminology and ensuring correct spelling throughout your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. Examples include 'I prefer those people who thing the competition... is a benefical thing than that of cooperate with people' and 'The student who ready their test... is most successful person'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the existing sentences are often poorly constructed. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Practice writing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a better range of grammatical control.
