Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the current society, the community is polarized in two groups almost equally regarding the issue that becoming get the top in profession, in academic institutes and in everyday life is well-motivated. A school of thought favors the statement. However, others think that the residents should try to understand each other despite of running with first position at every forefront. This essay would shed light on both aspects. As far as I am concerned, I believe that sense of competition should be there in every field.
One of the most significant contributions of competition is to upgrade the working style in many sectors. Taking the top rank has led to the developments of cognitive abilities and Inner strength which has made lot of inventions coupled with technological advancements. For example, few decades back, ISRO was not much capable to launch their rocket towards moon. However, due to competition, scientists did extremely hard work and then they sent the first rocket to land on southern part of moon in the recent past years. That's was only possible because they wanted to improve themselves progressively.
Furthermore, getting to the top position has greatly improved the living standard through technology innovations. Becoming pro in specific sector brings not only success in life but also it makes financially stable which is responsible to bring happiness and harmony. A survey was conducted in the United States has its findings published in the renowned journal that 70% of people who are at the topmost, they have improved their standards and living happily.
Shifting forward to the latter school of thought that feeling of cooperation with the fellow society members not only represents you humble in the eye of another but also it makes you true pioneer in society. For Instance, Delhi chief Minister ,Mrs Rekha Gupta was just a normal person before election. however she did lot of things in society with the understanding with other local individuals and now she became the Delhi chief minister with just this quality. Therefore, feeling of cooperation is also essential if want to go at the top.
Pondering over the topic, although understanding brings prosperity, I believe that competition is the only thing through which we make ourselves compatible to take the challenges in life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both competition and cooperation while clearly stating a personal position. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of ISRO and the importance of innovation. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument for competition is better supported than the argument for cooperation, which relies on a specific, slightly confusing example regarding a political figure. The conclusion is clear, but the overall depth of analysis could be improved by exploring the nuances of how these two concepts might coexist rather than just choosing one over the other. The position is consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One of the most significant contributions', 'Furthermore', and 'Shifting forward to', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. Referencing is generally clear, though there are occasional issues with sentence-level flow, such as the transition between the survey mention and the conclusion of that paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints, which helps the reader follow the progression of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts to use more sophisticated terms like 'polarized', 'cognitive abilities', and 'technological advancements'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'becoming get the top', 'running with first position', and 'becoming pro'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more natural collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing like 'at the top' or 'topmost'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the southern part of moon'), subject-verb agreement ('a survey was conducted... has its findings'), and preposition usage ('despite of'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some errors in capitalization and sentence boundaries. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the text. Increasing the number of error-free sentences and refining the use of articles would significantly improve the score in this criterion.
