Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both competition and cooperation and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples like essay writing competitions and corporate collaborations, the analysis remains relatively superficial. For instance, the point about 'toxicity' and 'burnout' is a good observation but lacks further explanation or depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended with more detailed reasoning or illustrative evidence. Your position is clear throughout, which is a positive aspect of your writing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Nevertheless' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some sentences feel disjointed. For example, the transition between the benefits of competition and the drawbacks of burnout is abrupt. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your referencing (e.g., 'this', 'these') clearly points back to the intended nouns to improve the overall cohesion of your paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'personal growth', 'toxicity', and 'financial growth'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'collab' (which is too informal for an academic essay) and 'people fraud with you' (which is grammatically awkward). To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and improving your control over collocations. Avoid informal abbreviations and ensure that your word choices are appropriate for a formal context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Several people thinks', 'this help them') and incorrect verb forms ('can burnout your body', 'cooperate with others can help you'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that modal verbs are followed by the correct base form of the verb. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures would also help elevate your score.
