Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individual argues that competition is beneficial at work place, school and in daily routines of life. Contrary to it, some people believe that we should work collectively rather than competing against each other .Although, competition can motivate people to enhance their knowledge and performance , I believe that cooperation is generally more effective because it promotes mutual support and facilitate people achieve their goals.
On the one hand, competition can be a powerful source of motivation .
When people compete with others , they often set higher standards for themselves . Similarly, competition between organization can encourage them to enhance their quality of product while keeping their prices reasonable .Health competition can contribute to both individuals achievement and larger economic prosperity .Cooperation is also crucial when dealing with large scale challenges such as environmental issues because their problems cannot be affectively addressed by the individuals or the organization acting alone.
On the other hand , excessive competition can produce detrimental pressure and harm relationships .In many circumstances, cooperation allows people to combine their several skills , knowledge and experience which is beneficial for organization.
Speaking from my perspective, competition has a remarkable role when it is healthy and encourages people to enhance and brighten themselves. Nevertheless, cooperation should be given greater significance because long term prosperity often depends on people ability to share ideas and work toward a common objective.
A balance approach on the one hand would allow competition for personal and profession growth while cooperation strengthens collective progress.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both competition and cooperation while providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of organizational quality and environmental challenges. However, the development is somewhat uneven; while the points are clear, they lack depth and specific illustrative examples. For instance, the argument regarding environmental issues is introduced but not fully explored. The position is consistent throughout, but the essay would benefit from more detailed elaboration to reach a higher band. Overall, it meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'Similarly', and 'Nevertheless', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing is a bit disjointed, particularly the short second paragraph. The flow between sentences is generally smooth, but there is room for more sophisticated linking to improve the overall progression of ideas. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences could be better connected to enhance the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use less common items like 'detrimental', 'prosperity', and 'collective progress'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'Health competition' (should be 'Healthy competition') and 'facilitate people achieve' (should be 'facilitate people in achieving' or 'help people achieve'). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Some individual argues' (should be 'Some individuals argue'), 'between organization' (should be 'between organizations'), and 'people ability' (should be 'people's ability'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. A greater variety of error-free complex structures would be needed to move into the 7.0+ range.
