Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people thinks that rivalry at school, workplace amd in daily routine is a positive thing however, some people thinks that we should assist more in daily life instead of combating against each other. This eassy will disscus both of the point of views.

On the one hand, some people firmly believes that rivalry at workplace, at school and in other life chaos is positive because

They thinks that it develop a sense of hardwork in tge peron so that they can achieve like other ones. By competing with people it forces indivisdual to improve their school of thought so that they could learn diverse knowledge. For instance, in asian school there are different kinds of academic activities occurs to develop a sense of competion so that student can perform well and improve their learning skill.

On the other hand, some people believes that we should assist more in our matters of life instead of competing with each other. Indivisdual should work harder for their own this act made them realise that everyone have different qualities and competition with each other would only become a reson of stress. For example, in genral parenting parents avoid to compare their child with other it creates self confidence and self acceptance in the society.

In my opinion, Competing with each other leads toward self doubt and they spend all their life in the race of becoming better than other ones and forget that purpose of life is not to become better than other is to become a better verision of your own self. Everyone should accept the fact that everyone has their own abilities so competition is not a good way.

In conclusion, both of the believers should understands eachother prospective so that society can leads toward success.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both competition and cooperation before providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding competition in Asian schools is a good start but lacks specific detail to fully support the claim. Similarly, the point about parenting is relevant but could be expanded to better illustrate the benefits of cooperation. The position is consistent throughout, but the essay would benefit from more depth in the supporting arguments to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be smoother. The use of linking words is sufficient for a band 6, but more sophisticated cohesive devices would be needed for a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'diverse knowledge' and 'self-acceptance', but there are also frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'eassy', 'disscus', 'peron', and 'genral'. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they do highlight a lack of precision. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and using collocations more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some people thinks', 'everyone have') and pluralisation. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and run-on sentences. While the meaning is usually clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for basic errors would significantly improve the score.
