Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, satisfying the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding competition and cooperation are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the claim that competition increases IQ is an unsupported generalisation, and the explanation of 'black zone' is vague. The position is clear, but the supporting points are not fully extended or logically explored, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should focus on providing more specific, logical explanations for your claims rather than repeating the same points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In the view of' are used incorrectly to introduce paragraphs, and the transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'the' before 'france' or 'the' before 'nepal'. While there is an overall progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive nature of the sentence structures make the flow feel somewhat disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of your transition signals will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'good things', 'do', and 'life'. There are also several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'sharp our talent', 'give your frame', and 'cooperate them self'. Some words are used in ways that do not fit the context, which occasionally makes the meaning difficult to follow. To achieve a higher score, you need to move beyond basic vocabulary and focus on using more precise, academic language and correct collocations. Expanding your range of synonyms and learning how to use them in context is essential.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('many person believe', 'competition... are'), article misuse ('in the france', 'the researcher'), and awkward sentence construction. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. For example, 'if the friends compete each other their bond should may lose' contains multiple errors in modal usage and structure. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. To improve, you must focus on mastering basic sentence structures and ensuring subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
