Student answer (Band 5.0)

People who think competition in daily life is good rather then being more cooperate instead of competing against each other. In my opinion cooperating is more beneficial rather then competing.

you can finish your work faster by cooperating and and have a much more healthy environment.

Competing against each other in daily life has many downsides some people might think that it is a good thing in my opinion i think that competing against each other isn't good it ruins the healthy relationship with coworkers and the environment and the people around you it makes you do mistakes more often because you will be in a rush to finish faster and to do better. You wont be socializing with your coworkers or people around and the people around you wont approach you as much.

Cooperating in the other hand is much better in my opinion. You can be more social and active with the people around you helping them and you can have a good healthy relationship with your coworkers and the people around you with a good environment. You can do your work easier with better results without rushing and getting help from the people around you whenever you need.

To conclude, Competing has many drawbacks while cooperating in the other hand is much approachable and better to chose in my opinion. However, I believe that cooperation should be given greater importance because it encourages team work and allows people to share their skills and ideas. This can be balanced with competition exist alongside strong cooperation, is therefore likely to produce the best results.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the points about 'healthy relationships' and 'work environment' are mentioned in both the second and third paragraphs without significant extension or depth. While the prompt is addressed, the arguments remain at a surface level, lacking specific examples or nuanced analysis. To improve, you should aim to provide concrete illustrations of how competition or cooperation manifests in professional or academic settings, rather than simply stating that one is 'better' than the other. The conclusion attempts to synthesize the views, which is a positive step toward a more balanced response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between and within them is often mechanical. You rely on basic transitions like 'In my opinion' and 'In the other hand' (which should be 'On the other hand'). Some sentences are run-on, such as 'it ruins the healthy relationship with coworkers and the environment and the people around you it makes you do mistakes more often', which makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, which hinders the logical flow of the argument. Improving your use of linking words and ensuring each sentence is clearly punctuated would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You frequently repeat words like 'people', 'around you', 'healthy', and 'work'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'cooperate' used as a noun instead of 'cooperation', and 'approachable' used to describe a concept rather than a person. To reach a higher band, you should work on using a wider variety of synonyms and more sophisticated collocations. For example, instead of repeating 'good thing', try using 'advantageous' or 'beneficial'. Expanding your vocabulary to include topic-specific terminology would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement, incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'cooperating in the other hand'), and missing punctuation, which leads to run-on sentences. For example, 'People who think competition in daily life is good rather then being more cooperate' is a sentence fragment. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences more accurately to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
