Student answer (Band 6.0)
Healthy competition can motivate individuals to improve their skills and achieve higher level of performances. Some individuals believe that competition at workplace, schools and in daily life is a good concept to improve performance, whereas others argue that cooperation is better than competing against each other. I strongly support that a healthy competition makes a better person with high quality of performance and that individual can deal with his/her failures more easily.
On the one hand, competition has various positive effects on personal and professional growth. First and foremost, it helps in achieving and improving performances. A certain degree of competition can encourage people to work harder and become more innovative. Moreover, competition develop skills of dealing with failures. Sometimes participation is more important than winning as it provides a great knowledge about the topic and it helps in assessing one's strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, competition plays a crucial role in shaping an individual, developing skills and improving performances.
On the other hand, cooperation has it's own significance in one's life. At some circumstance where team work is required cooperation play a vital role. Cooperation helps to build contants and foster interaction.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 192 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you introduce both sides of the argument and state a clear position, the discussion is underdeveloped. The second paragraph provides some reasoning for competition, but the third paragraph regarding cooperation is extremely brief and lacks sufficient supporting examples or depth. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with specific examples and deeper analysis to ensure all parts of the prompt are fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a basic logical flow. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore'. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of length and depth. The final paragraph is particularly abrupt and lacks a concluding sentence or a summary of your opinion, which makes the overall structure feel incomplete. To achieve a higher score, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that you use a wider range of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and limited in range. Phrases like 'improve performance' and 'developing skills' are used multiple times. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'at some circumstance' (should be 'in some circumstances') and 'build contants' (likely meant 'contacts'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to professional and academic environments, and avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'cooperation play a vital role' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'it's own significance' (incorrect use of the possessive pronoun 'its'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of apostrophes. Incorporating more varied complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses, would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
