Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal position. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding 'economy boost' and 'understanding level' are stated but lack sufficient explanation or concrete examples to fully support the claims. The points about competition are also somewhat repetitive, focusing on 'future benefits' and 'soft skills' without exploring the nuances of these concepts. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with specific, illustrative examples rather than just listing general benefits. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively synthesize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing. For instance, the transition between the idea of cooperation and the economic impact is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'byb this they learn new things', where the antecedent is vague. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'competition at work, at school and in daily life', which is repeated verbatim multiple times. There are also several spelling errors ('ndaily', 'postive', 'ogf', 'inviduals', 'thpoughts', 'wroks', 'thingds') and some awkward collocations like 'rise understanding level'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the frequency of errors in word choice and spelling limit the score. Using a broader range of synonyms and more sophisticated collocations would significantly improve this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('a section of society feel'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage. Some sentences are fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'Even though, a section of society feel that we ought to try cooperate more'. These errors occasionally make the reader pause, although they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and article usage before attempting more complex structures.
