Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some persons believe that competition is a good thing for them, in school, colleges and work places etc. It is true for some point of view ,like as the competition against each other in school students to compete each other and get a first position ,is a good thing as it give them pressure to study hard and get good marks .For their parents it is extremely good thing that there chlid is studying consistently to get good grades. Same as it, individuals in the workplaces like in their office compete each for the better position in their office and make their identity better in front of his or her boss . Exactly like it ,also happening in our daily world, as peoples around each other is trying hard to look better from each other , buying new dresses and cars etc to jealous other individuals .

On the other hand of world, other individuals believe that challenging or competing each other is useless and is just waste of time. They think that cooperating with peoples is far better then challenging them. So they don't take ant kind of pressure or stress .They enjoy their life, and stay happy with themselves or their families.

According to my point of view , it depends upon the person's status or background . If the person is financially stronger and has much stronger background, he doesn't take and kind of worries and don't compete with others. Whereas, the person who doesn't have too stronger financial conditions and he or she, depends on someone else , they must have to compete with other persons to make themselves stronger, and to live joyful life in this world. And this is much vital according to my experience of daily life in this world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the task by discussing both views on competition and cooperation. However, the organization could be improved, as it lacks a clear structure with distinct paragraphs for each viewpoint. For example, merging around different ideas into one paragraph makes it challenging to follow. Additionally, the writer's opinion is presented, but it could be more clearly articulated as a separate conclusion statement. Task Achievement score: 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The coherence and cohesion of the essay are lacking in places. There are often abrupt transitions between ideas, leading to a somewhat disjointed presentation. The connection between thoughts, such as moving from competition to the role of financial status in competition, needs smoother transitions to enhance readability. Moreover, cohesive devices should be used more effectively to clearly link ideas together. Coherence and Cohesion score: 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used includes some pertinent phrases like "compete each other" and "financially stronger." However, the use of vocabulary is often repetitive and basic, lacking the range expected at higher levels. Errors with word forms and collocations (e.g., "there chlid" instead of "their child") further limit lexical resource. More sophisticated word choices and variety in expressions would significantly enhance the quality of the writing. Lexical Resource score: 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

There are several grammatical inaccuracies throughout the essay, including awkward sentence constructions and punctuation errors. Examples include "competitive each other in school students" and "doesn't take and kind of worries." Subject-verb agreement issues also occur, such as "individuals in the workplaces like in their office compete each for the better position." These errors impact clarity. Grammatical Range and Accuracy score: 4.5.

Overall feedback

Your essay shows an understanding of both sides of the argument, but improvements in structure would enhance clarity. Consider clearly separating your points into distinct paragraphs for each view, ensuring a logical flow. Additionally, refining your vocabulary by incorporating varied expressions will strengthen your writing significantly. Grammatical accuracy is key, so take time to proofread your sentences, focusing on subject-verb agreement and word choice. Overall, you have a good base to build upon, but addressing these areas will help you achieve a higher band score.
