Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argue that competition at work, at school and in daily life is a good thing, while others believe that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other.Although both perspective hage their merits,I believe that people try to cooperate and help each others. This essay will dicuss both views before presenting my own opinion.
On the hand, those who argue that competition at work, at school and in daily life is a good thing believe that it motivates people to perform better. This is because individual of work harder when they have the clear goal and the oppurtunity to outperform others, which enables them to develop skills and achieve better results. For example, students may study more seriously when they compete with their classmates for higher grades.Similarly, competiton between companies can encourage them to improve the quality of product. Therefore,it is understandable why this viewpoint is widely supported.
On the other hand, proponents of cooperation argue that people can achieve more when they work together rather than competing against each other. This is because individually can share their knowledge, skills and idea leading to more effective solutions to problems.Furthermore, cooperation can create a stronger relationship and a more connective enviroment, which makes this perspective equally compelling. As a result, many people consider this to be a more practical approach.
From my perspective,Although both arguments have some validity, cooperation is more convincing. This is primarily because working together promote mutual support and allow people to benefit from one another. In addition competition can create stress, jealousy and conflict.Consequently, cooperation should be priortised more.
In conclusion, while some people support competition is a good thing and others favour cooperation,I believe that cooperation is the most effective approach due to its long-term benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both competition and cooperation before clearly stating a personal position. The ideas are relevant and logically developed, such as the mention of academic grades and corporate quality improvement for competition, and knowledge sharing for cooperation. However, the development is somewhat brief and could benefit from more detailed examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main argument. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more thorough exploration of the implications of these concepts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'Furthermore', and 'Consequently' are used to link ideas. However, there are some issues with punctuation and spacing, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'merits,I', 'others, which'), which makes the text look slightly mechanical and affects the flow. Improving the precision of cohesive links and ensuring standard formatting would enhance the overall readability and coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary like 'mutual support', 'outperform', and 'practical approach'. However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'dicuss', 'oppurtunity', 'competiton', 'priortised') and some minor word-choice inaccuracies (e.g., 'connective enviroment' instead of 'collaborative environment'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise, academic collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('It is often argue', 'individual of work harder', 'working together promote') and incorrect word forms ('individually' used instead of 'individuals'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding spacing after punctuation marks. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and standard punctuation conventions.
