Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people state that doing a competition at workplace, study area and in everyday life is considered a positive point, while some think that we should experience on more teamwork, instead of racing against easrweach other. This essay will present the two points of views.

It is a benefit for people to compete against each other in various places such as school, offices and even daily life to find their weaknesses and learning from each other. The more they participate in competitions, the better the improvements they will achieve by learning from their past mistakes, as a result of positive outcomes of being productive. According to a successful company, employees are resigned to compete against each other to increase sales, by this impact, they can develope the skills and improvise themself from their weak points to rising the company sales which wil eventually lead to a promotion of the individual on the task they have archieved.

Another fact is that people should be more active in an activity such as teamwork because it will not only help to complete a task faster but also reduce the works too.

In this occasion, if a group of people working together by splitting each task individualy, not only the work itself will be done quicker and easier, the team will have more time to check the mistakes and well prepare too. For instance, working as a team in cooking competition, by divide the tasks and help correct each other errors, will gradually increase chance of winning.

In conclusion, Although competition is a good thing for people, however, working as team improve mark more.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, though the conclusion is underdeveloped. The ideas regarding competition and cooperation are relevant, but the support provided is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of how competition leads to promotion is a bit simplistic, and the example of a cooking competition is brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed reasoning and clearer examples. Additionally, your position is stated in the introduction but could be more consistently reinforced throughout the body paragraphs to ensure a more persuasive tone.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In this occasion' or 'by this impact'. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is functional, but the conclusion is abrupt and lacks a strong summary of the main points. While the logical flow is generally maintained, the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall readability and coherence of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'doing a competition', 'experience on more teamwork', and 'reduce the works'. You also have some spelling errors like 'develope', 'improvise themself', and 'easrweach'. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and academic vocabulary. While your meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary prevents a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'learning from their past mistakes' (should be 'learn'), 'improvise themself' (should be 'themselves'), and 'Although competition is a good thing for people, however' (a redundant use of conjunctions). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence construction often feels slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and avoiding redundant conjunctions in complex sentences.
