Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of the discussion. While the main ideas are relevant, the supporting arguments are somewhat underdeveloped. For instance, the point about climate change is a good example but lacks sufficient elaboration to fully explore the complexity of the topic. To improve, you should expand on your examples and provide more detailed explanations for each viewpoint to ensure the response is comprehensive and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Furthermore' are used to signal transitions between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and minor errors in sentence structure. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the lack of length prevents a more sophisticated development of the argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'competitive all aspects of life' instead of 'competition in all aspects of life' and 'excessive tress' instead of 'excessive stress'. Some terms are repeated, and the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and improve the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the competition drive performance' (subject-verb agreement), 'create better motivate for improve' (incorrect word form), and 'if we are cooperated' (incorrect passive voice usage). While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, verb forms, and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
