Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For example, the arguments for competition are somewhat vague, relying on general statements like 'it boost your confident' rather than specific, well-reasoned points. The counter-argument regarding cooperation is also underdeveloped, simply stating it is a 'time waste' without exploring the nuance of collaborative success. To improve, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples that clearly illustrate how competition or cooperation functions in real-world scenarios.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Initiating with the supporting points' and 'On its contrast side' are unnatural and do not effectively link ideas. Additionally, there is a lack of variety in transition words, and some sentences feel disjointed. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that flows logically into the supporting details.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'if we competition with each other' (should be 'compete') and 'it assisted to improve' (should be 'it helps to improve'). The range is sufficient to communicate basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. You should focus on learning word families and common collocations to improve the accuracy and naturalness of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('they thinks', 'competition are wanted') and incorrect verb forms ('I will be discussed'). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent and occur throughout the text. The range of sentence structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some attempts at complex structures that are often grammatically flawed. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
