Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under-length at 197 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. This has a negative impact on the development of ideas. While the introduction attempts to outline the task, the essay is incomplete, cutting off abruptly in the second paragraph. Consequently, the second viewpoint and the required personal opinion are not addressed. The ideas presented regarding competition are somewhat repetitive and lack depth, failing to fully explore the complexities of the prompt. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed and provide sufficient supporting evidence to meet the word count.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear logical progression because it is unfinished. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'In the case of others' and 'To strengthen their stance', these are sometimes used inaccurately or sound unnatural. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending prevents a coherent conclusion. The flow of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text, making it difficult to assess the overall structure effectively. To improve, focus on planning your essay structure before writing to ensure that each paragraph contributes to a balanced, complete argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and occasionally imprecise. Phrases like 'full fledged discussion' and 'synonymous with improving their ability' are used incorrectly or in contexts where they do not fit naturally. There is some repetition of basic vocabulary, such as 'competition' and 'people'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate higher-level control. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary rather than relying on generic phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains several grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. Examples include 'In this easy' (likely a typo for 'essay'), 'a considerable number of individual' (should be plural 'individuals'), and 'To cite and example' (should be 'an example'). Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity, such as 'on the condition that people work hard it has no surprise'. Frequent errors in articles, pluralization, and sentence construction hinder the overall quality. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
