Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is commonly beleived that it is good to have competition at workplace and educational institute, while others argue that individuals should cooperate with each other instead of competing against each other. I strongly agree with the first statement that we should challenge each other because it will help us to think uniquely and grow in our respective fields.
To begin with, competetions help us to find new possibilities and give a chances to improve our credibility. As we are challenged, either at work or in studies, we add more efforts to win the competetion which enables us to find the easiest and fastest possible solution to solve a problem or compelete the project. Individuals try trail-and-error method to find best ways to finish their work before others. As a result, they are better at finding solutions for upcomming problems. For example, a maths student is competeing for difficult maths test. He will find new less-time consuming techniques to solve the problem that are time-comsuming and help him to solve paper.
On the other hand, some people argue that people should be cooperative on workplaces and in schools becuase cooperation helps to grow as society instead of as a individual. We often see sturggling peers and colleauges in offices and schools and they can overcome their problems, if someone shows cooperation with them by asking and help in their solving their problems. As a result, all peers or employees can grow together and complete their deadlines on time which eventually improve the company's and school's reputation.
In conclusion, although cooperation can help us to grow as group, individual's progress demands competitions to acheive better results in life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of 'trial-and-error' methods and the benefits of collaborative support in offices. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. The example regarding the maths student is a bit vague and could have been more effectively integrated to support the argument. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments could be extended with more depth to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'As a result', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be smoother in places. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure is coherent, making the writer's intent easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is sufficient for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'credibility', 'collaborative', and 'reputation'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'beleived', 'competetion', 'upcomming', and 'acheive'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, the writer should focus on accuracy in spelling and aim for a slightly more sophisticated range of collocations to move beyond basic descriptive language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'give a chances', 'help in their solving their problems', and 'as a individual'. These errors are persistent but do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. The control over articles and pluralization needs improvement. The writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, but the accuracy of these structures is inconsistent, which keeps the score in the mid-range.
