Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many peoples believe that it is good thing to competition at work,at school and in routine life. some think that we should try to cooperate much as compared to competing each others.

I have a thought that competition at work,at school and in daily life is very important these days. Other says that it is not a good thing.

I am agreed with this thought that we should have to be competitive in our daily life. Competition in our daily life like at work, at school and other routine works is much important For example, if I have a thought that I have to work more as compare to my friend then I do more hard work.

On the other hand the peoples believe that we have to cooperative than competitive opposite to each others. This thought is not fair because by this thing we laziness increases. For example, one boy do his work slowly alone, then this one may be lazy as compared to the boy that have to do competition with others. This one thinks that this is not a time to do anything else because this boy has not any competitive one.

Majority of the peoples thinks about the competition life is perfect because it make them punctual while the other ones says that the competitive life is not very good because they have to do their work slowly. This is, Therefore, is not good to not having competition in the life

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding competition and cooperation are simplistic and lack depth, relying on basic examples that do not fully explore the complexities of the topic. Furthermore, the response is under the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the overall task achievement. To improve, you should expand your points with more detailed reasoning and ensure you meet the word count to allow for a more thorough discussion of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'For example' are used, they are often applied mechanically. The progression of ideas is sometimes unclear, particularly in the final paragraph, where the summary is disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the next, creating a smoother transition between your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'good thing', 'work', and 'life'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'I am agreed with this thought' instead of 'I agree with this view' and 'by this thing we laziness increases'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, you should aim to use more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and enhance the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'one boy do his work'), article usage, and sentence structure. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors before moving on to more complex grammatical structures.
