Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is an ongoing debate about whether being competitive is better rather than to cooperate with each other. In this essay I will discuss both views, and explain why I believe that a little competition is healthy while people still need to cooperate.
One of the main reasons why some people argue that competition is good is because competition usually attract progression. The competition we face in the world today is the main reason why we have economic growth, and the technology is advanced. A clear example of it is the big techs, who every year need to reinvent their technology to be able to compete against their competitors. Addionally, people who are ambicious tend to be more competitive to be able to achieve their dreams. A children who desire to achive better grades at school, will need to compete against their collegues.
On the other hand, other people agree that being coorperate with each other has more advantages. Places were the collaboration happens rather than agressive competition, tend to be more envirnmental friendly. For example, small agriculture producers who were suffering with the extreme weather condition in Brazil, started to colaborate among themself. As a result, they could avoid the waste of overprodution or the loss of money when they could not growth their products. If people start to look at their communit and cooperate more, for example exchanging goods or helping each other, they could improve their quality of life.
In conclusion, I believe that the population should try to cooperate more were possible. However, a healthy competition is also good to enhance people's life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the point about technological advancement is relevant, the example of 'big techs' is a bit vague. The second body paragraph regarding agriculture in Brazil is a good, specific example, but the connection between cooperation and being 'environmentally friendly' could be more explicitly explained. Overall, the response covers all parts of the prompt, but the arguments would benefit from more depth and analytical detail to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'For example', and 'As a result' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is a bit imprecise, such as 'Places were the collaboration happens'. The transition between ideas is generally smooth, but the essay would benefit from a more sophisticated range of linking words to improve the overall flow and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'progression' and 'ambitious', but there are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'Addionally', 'ambicious', 'coorperate', 'envirnmental', 'colaborate', 'overprodution'). These errors are noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. To improve, the student should focus on accuracy in spelling and work on using more precise collocations to convey their ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'whether being competitive is better rather than to cooperate', 'A children who desire', and 'were possible' (instead of 'where'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The student demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, but needs to pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, article usage, and prepositional accuracy to ensure the majority of sentences are error-free.
