Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, some people believe that competition in the workplace, education and everyday life has positive effects, while other argue that people should focus more on cooperation instead of competing against each other. there are splited view of the situation. both the view point and my inclination will be discussed in following paragraphs.

In current era, competition can motivate people to perform better and work harder. When individuals compete with others, they often work harder to achieve their goals. In additions, in schools, for example: students may study more seriously when they want to get higher mark than their classmates. Similarly, competition in the workplace can encourage employees to improve their skill and productivity. Furthermore, businesses often compete with each other ,which can lead to better products and services for customers.

On the other hand, corporation provide greater benefits in many situations. When people work together, they can share their knowledge, skills and ideas to solve problems more effectively. For example, employees who cooperate on a project can combine their different abilities and complete their work successfully. Moreover, cooperation is also important in daily life because it helps people build strong relationship and support each other. In contrast, excessive may create stress, jealousy and conflict among individuals.

In my opinion, both competition and cooperation are useful, but coorporation is more important. Healthy competition can encourage people to improve themselves, but too much competition can have negative effects. Therefore, people should compete when necessary while learning to cooperate and support others.

TO conclude, competition can increase motivation and performance, Whereas cooperation promotes teamwork and stronger relationship.

i believe that maintaining a balance between the two is the best approach, with grater emphasis on cooperation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both competition and cooperation and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported with examples, such as students studying for higher marks or employees collaborating on projects. However, the development of ideas is somewhat brief, and the conclusion introduces a slight contradiction by stating that cooperation is more important while also suggesting a balance. To reach a higher band, ensure that the personal opinion is consistently maintained throughout the essay and that the supporting arguments are expanded with more depth and nuance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Similarly', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. However, there are some minor issues with mechanical cohesion and sentence-level flow, such as the awkward phrasing 'there are splited view of the situation'. While the progression is generally clear, the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated to improve the overall flow of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary like 'productivity', 'collaborate', and 'excessive'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'splited', 'corporation' (used instead of cooperation), 'coorporation', and 'grater'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and expanding their range of collocations to move beyond basic descriptive terms, which would demonstrate a more flexible and precise use of language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('In current era'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation (e.g., 'for example: students'). Some sentences are slightly disjointed due to these errors. The student demonstrates an ability to use complex structures, but the frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent punctuation would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
