Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people think that competition in every day task is good for a person. Where as on the other hand people think that competition in everywhere has many negative consiquences. Both sides will be discussed in detailed in the following essay.
People say that competition in every task is good for a person. To some extent it is true. competition makes a person to take challenges and move ahead. It makes an individual courageous to face difficult situations and come up with good results. A person with competitive mind is ready to face any challenge in order to get ahead of others. This makes a person to learn more new skills.
On the other hand the competitions create a negative impact on some people who are slow learners. As well as this make an egoistic mindset where a person won't allow any one to get ahead in the competition. This also creates unnecessary conflicts between people. In many cases people cross limits and tend to comitt crimes to get ahead competting with others. The people who are relatively less competitive are much effected.
In my opinion competitions should be limites to some certain tasks. Other than that people should be encouraged to cooperate with each other. The people should be encouraged to being humble and help ones who are slow learners and less competitive. I conclude that competition has certain advantages, but after a limit competition becomes a problem for society. It has more conciquences than advantages. So it should be limited to certain tasks.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the benefits of competition and the value of cooperation, while providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding competition leading to crime is a significant claim that lacks specific examples or logical elaboration. The essay would benefit from more detailed explanations of how competition functions in specific contexts like 'work' or 'school' as mentioned in the prompt. While the position is clear, the supporting points remain at a general level, preventing a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. There is a logical flow from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For example, the transition 'On the other hand' is used correctly, but the overall linking between sentences could be more sophisticated. Some sentences feel slightly disjointed, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the phrase 'As well as this make an egoistic mindset', where the subject is unclear.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'consiquences', 'comitt', 'competting', and 'conciquences'. Additionally, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and lacks the precision required for higher bands. Phrases like 'every day task' and 'get ahead of others' are functional but basic. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of key terms related to the topic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'competition makes a person to take challenges' (should be 'makes a person take'), 'the competitions create' (unnecessary article), and 'the people who are relatively less competitive are much effected' (should be 'affected'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. The student needs to work on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and verb patterns to improve accuracy.
