Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people carry opinion that competion at work, at schoolain regular life is a good think. Some of the people carry opinion that we should coperate more rather than competing with each other.

Alot of the people has a perspective that competition is a healthy thing wether its in work or at study. Competion means to set a aim to compiting with each other in any field. school is good example of this in school students compete with eachother. Students challange each other that who perform best in studies and that really help sometimes. it gaves the mind a challange to do. i will like gave my personal life example. When i was in matric one of my friend challange me to take 70 percent in exam. I accept the challange and compete bravely and finally i achieve that. Same it happens at work colleagues in a office compete with eachother to do thier best for the promotion purposes.

Alot of the people argue that rather than. compiting with the eachother we should cooperate with each other. We should help each other in various fields rather than compiting with each other. Because sometimes compiting attain a worse shape rather than compiting with eachother people start taking it personal and a severe rivalary may accur.

in my point of view we should be should be intermediate between the compiting and cooperating with eachother

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, but the development is limited. The essay is under the 250-word minimum, which restricts the depth of the arguments. While you provide examples like the matric exam and office promotions, these are brief and lack the necessary elaboration to reach a higher band. The conclusion is also very brief and lacks a summary of the main points. To improve, ensure you expand on your ideas with more detailed explanations and reach the required word count to fully develop your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by the lack of cohesive devices. You rely on simple sentence structures and lack transition words or phrases to connect ideas (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast'). The paragraphing is present but the ideas within them are somewhat disjointed. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words to guide the reader through your arguments and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that relates back to the prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use the same words, such as 'competing', 'cooperating', and 'challenge'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'competion', 'coperate', 'wether', and 'rivalary'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To improve, focus on learning synonyms and collocations related to the topic of competition and cooperation, and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('Alot of the people has'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple and lack the complexity required for higher bands. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of periods and capitalization. To improve, practice constructing more complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions and focus on proofreading for basic grammatical errors like verb tense and pluralization.
