Student answer (Band 5.5)

Competition rather it is on work or in daily life serve as a main source of pushing a person to do his best in almost all aspects of life.

Competition mean to compete with others to check whether you are doing good or you are little bit behind in every aspect of life. It also serve as a great tool to to identify the best of the available things. It has some bad effects like by doing competition we show disgrace for those who did not achieve that good result that some other competing persons got. In this way we are getting bad impact of competition. That is why some person think that we should not compete with each other. Because of competition we make a sense of jealousy for each other. But other people believe that although it has some disadvantage but the ratio of advantages are far more then its drawbacks. It help to evaluate a person that on what stage he is standing as compare to other persons.

In my opinion competition serve as a very good tool for evaluation that you are how much accurate in a task. It serve as a tool to appreciate a person who is doing well in some subject or any other sort of competition. It also make it easy to evaluate a person how good he is in his work. I recently applied for applied in American universities for my undergrade studies where universities has made a test with name SAT on which they test that if this student is able to compete with other children or to evaluate them on the basis of their IQ level.

In conclusion, I want to say that, it is more helpful to use competition as a tool to evaluate your expertise in a fild

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the benefits of competition as a tool for evaluation and the drawbacks like jealousy, these points are not fully extended with deep analysis or varied examples. The conclusion is abrupt and incomplete, failing to fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph explores the 'why' and 'how' of your points more thoroughly, and provide a more comprehensive summary in your conclusion that reflects the depth of your discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. You rely on basic transitions like 'In conclusion' and 'But', which makes the progression feel somewhat disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'In this way we are getting bad impact of competition', where the connection to the previous point is weak. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') and ensure that each sentence logically follows the one before it to create a smoother, more professional flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You frequently repeat basic words like 'competition', 'tool', and 'evaluate'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'show disgrace' instead of 'disrespect' or 'fild' (spelling error). To improve, try to incorporate more academic synonyms and collocations. For example, instead of saying 'doing good', use 'performing well' or 'achieving success'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more topic-specific terminology will help you express your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'competition... serve' instead of 'serves'), article usage (e.g., 'in a fild'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'you are how much accurate'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the writing from reaching a higher level of accuracy. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound before attempting more complex, multi-clause sentences.
