Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days some people seem to argue that the best way to success in life is competition on work, at school and in every day life. On the other hand, others are of the opinion that people need to try to help eachother then competing with opponents. However, I will discuss both these views and give my opinion.

In the first place, it would be quite interesting to note that competition in organizations or at school and daily life is important for an individual because it makes people to stay focus and consistent to achieve their objectives. Everyone try to surpass their opponents on their domain such as, get a better position at job or achieve a high grades in school or success in social life. One illustration for this is that, if a employee at his work succeed for a higher position or a student achieve a valued degree leading to prolonged financial stability and a better work life-balance. In addition to this, this stability brings multiple benefits such as, a good and healthier life style with your beloved family and friends.

Furthermore, coorperation brings people close to eachother and as well as helps to develope some key skills in a society. For instance, with cooperation community solve their several issues togethar as it ehance awareness and problem solving skills into public. In result of that, a happy community live in a tough or good situations with eachother and take care their neighbours and coorperation members.

In conclusion, I am convinced to say that it is indeed a debatable issue which needs further anlysis and discussion. However, in the light of above discussed arguments and example. it would be quite safe to conclude that the advantages of coorperation with people overweigh its disadvantages and far overweigh the of competing against each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the argument regarding competition is supported by a rather generic illustration about job positions and degrees, which lacks depth. The section on cooperation is also quite brief and relies on general statements rather than specific, well-developed examples. While the prompt is addressed, the ideas could be extended further to reach a higher band. The position is consistent, but the supporting arguments lack the necessary detail to be considered fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'In the first place', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal the structure. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is imprecise, such as 'In result of that' (which should be 'As a result'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transition between the two viewpoints and the personal opinion could be smoother. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the logical sequence is maintained throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'eachother', 'develope', 'togethar', 'ehance', and 'anlysis'. Additionally, some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'on their domain' instead of 'in their field' and 'coorperation members'. While the meaning is always clear, the lack of variety and the recurring spelling mistakes limit the score. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of common academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Examples include 'makes people to stay focus' (should be 'makes people stay focused'), 'Everyone try' (should be 'Everyone tries'), 'a employee' (should be 'an employee'), and 'the advantages of coorperation... overweigh its disadvantages and far overweigh the of competing'. These errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, and sentence construction indicate a lack of control over complex structures. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is needed.
