Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument for competition is repetitive, focusing mainly on 'working hard' without exploring broader societal or psychological implications. The discussion on cooperation is also quite brief and lacks specific, well-developed examples, relying on general statements like 'good maners'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your points with more detailed explanations and concrete, real-world illustrations rather than repeating the same core idea in different ways.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'However', 'In addition', and 'In a nutshell'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'However sense of competition' which lacks a comma, or 'so it is clear that' which feels informal. Additionally, the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, making the progression of ideas feel a bit disjointed at times. Improving the variety and natural placement of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'lead over others', 'compiters' (likely a misspelling of competitors), 'earns their name', and 'love ones'. While your meaning is generally clear, the vocabulary remains somewhat basic and repetitive. To improve, focus on learning more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that you use words in their correct context. Expanding your range of synonyms for common words like 'competition' and 'cooperation' would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('every one is trying', 'competition facilities us'), missing articles ('in sense of competition'), and awkward sentence construction ('cooperation alsa facilitates in bringing love ones closer'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While you attempt complex structures, they are often marred by these errors. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for common slips would significantly improve your score in this area.
