Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the modern world, people can't survive and live a happy life if they are not compitent enough to deal with work and life situations. So, some people develop thoughts like competition at work, school and daily life is a good thing and in contrast some individuals believe that people should try to work as a team rather than competing with each other.

Sometimes competition may feel like an essential thing in life. It may act as a ladder to climb up career. Meeting a proper opponent may be a blessing to the life because trying to be a better version in the relevent workplace will develop the best version of that person. It can unintentionally increase the productivity and efficiency of work. However it is totally depent on adaptivity to stress. It can be a chance to idenify own capacity. On the other hand, Competition with peers has a bad aspect. Sometimes, it may be meaningless and it can lead to emotional setbacks. Furthermore, it can reduce social interation with peers in work or school or wherever the place. That social isolation leads to decline mental health.

It is really a good thing that people think other people as their team mates rather than competitors. Different people build various kinds of skills and they may unique to each on of them. The really important thing is realizing own capabilities and try to shape them which match to the certain environment. If people act in this way the final outcome will be better compared to peer competitive environment. On the other hand, people can learn from others and sharpe weak areas as well as the mental status also can be in good level. These important qualities should be taught to the people at their younger age. In that way, it is very easy to develop better environment.

In conclusion, It is really a good thing that people don't compete with each other and try to cooperate with others wherever the place they live . In my opinion, It is good intention that consentrate on improving individual skills and abilities and it will help to build an effective environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on competition and cooperation and providing a clear personal opinion, primarily in the conclusion and final body paragraph. The ideas are generally relevant, discussing both the positive and negative aspects of competition, such as increasing productivity versus causing emotional setbacks, and the benefits of teamwork. However, some ideas are a bit repetitive and under-developed, particularly in the final paragraph where the personal opinion is somewhat brief and echoes previous points. While the position is clear throughout, extending the arguments with more concrete examples would have strengthened the response, placing it firmly at a Band 6.0 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas. However, cohesion at the sentence level is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition 'On the other hand' is used repeatedly in close succession without a contrasting point, and referencing can be imprecise (e.g., 'wherever the place'). Paragraph transitions lack smooth logical progression in places, which occasionally hinders the flow of reading. Overall, these limitations place the essay at Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'productivity', 'efficiency', 'adaptivity', and 'capacity'. However, there are numerous spelling errors ('compitent', 'relevent', 'depent', 'idenify', 'interation', 'sharpe', 'consentrate') and word-choice inaccuracies that detract from the overall quality. Phrases like 'decline mental health' and 'be in good level' show awkward collocation. While meaning is generally communicated despite these errors, the density of spelling and lexical slips prevents the score from reaching Band 6.0, making a Band 5.5 a fair reflection of the descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure through conditional clauses ('If people act in this way...') and participial phrases. However, there are frequent grammatical errors involving articles, prepositions, and word forms (e.g., 'think other people as their team mates', 'they may unique', 'at their younger age', 'better environment'). Punctuation is also occasionally weak, such as unnecessary capitalization ('In conclusion, It is really...'). Although these errors rarely completely impede communication, their frequency across the text keeps the grammar score at Band 5.5.
