Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people believe that competition at work, at school, and in daily life is beneficial. Other argue that we should try to cooperate more, rather than contention against each other. So in my opinion competition is a good way to perfomed well in every situation
Firstly, the competition are good in our daily life, without this we cannot succeed in life, competition at work, at school, performed a best for others how cannot beat anyone. However, its gives me a confidence for better communication in the front of others, without challanging we cannot performed well in daily life. For example, when i preparing for ielts exam i challange myself for gain good bands to beat others. In addition, nowadays competition are very fast in every situation. By contrast, students should beat other students in a studies and we can also challenge our self in a daily life to complete this activity in a day.
Secondly, some people believe that we should try to cooperate more rather than competing against each other, if we should do nothing than other one against you and beat you in every situation. Sometimes, if we focus only beating others, we ignore teamwork and become stressed. It is healthier to relax and support each other instead. For example, in a workplace if we spread positivity in the work via the help to others in a project rather than planning to beat others in a project than other members will be inspiring you.
In the conclusion, both are vey essential in different situation, but my opinion is that the competition at work, at school, and in a daily life makes the person strong and confident in everywhere. Furthermore, in a modern era if we cannot beat others than we connot succeed in every situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both competition and cooperation, and concludes with a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the student states 'competition at work, at school, performed a best for others how cannot beat anyone', which lacks clarity and logical expansion. While the writer attempts to support ideas with examples such as 'when i preparing for ielts exam i challange myself for gain good bands', the arguments tend to over-generalise and rely heavily on repetitive claims that beating others is necessary for success. The position is stated but remains simplistic. According to the band descriptors, this performance aligns best with Band 5.0, as it addresses the task and presents a position, but the ideas are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting detail.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays some basic organisational structure with discernible paragraphing, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, overall progression is lacking as transitions feel abrupt and mechanical. The student attempts to use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'However', 'In addition', 'By contrast', and 'Secondly', but they are often misused or awkwardly placed, such as 'By contrast, students should beat other students in a studies'. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical flow of ideas. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within paragraphs suffers from repetitive phrasing and disjointed sentences. This performance corresponds to a Band 5.0, characterised by some organisation and a reliance on inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive cohesive devices.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for discussing the topic. The student attempts some less common lexical items, but these are frequently marred by significant word choice and morphological errors, such as 'contention against each other', 'perfomed well', 'in the front of others', and 'connot succeed'. There are also frequent spelling and grammatical form issues, such as 'a studies' and 'challenge our self'. While meaning can generally be extracted, these noticeable errors cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the lexical score. This sits comfortably within the Band 5.0 descriptor, showing a limited range with noticeable errors that occasionally impede understanding.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response features a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by coordinating conjunctions or faulty dependent clauses. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently ungrammatical, as seen in sentences like 'sometimes, if we focus only beating others, we ignore teamwork and become stressed.' There are frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, prepositions, and articles throughout the text, such as 'competition are very fast' and 'via the help to others'. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader, although basic meaning is usually conveyed. This performance reflects Band 4.5 to 5.0, where a limited range of structures is used and frequent errors in grammar are apparent; a band score of 5.0 is awarded as meaning is still preserved despite the grammatical strain.
