Student answer (Band 5.5)

A huge number of people believe that competition at work, school and daily life is a great idea. Whereas, some argue that we should cooperate more rather than stand against each other. I frimly agree on this view. I will discuss below and will try to draw a conclusion.

On one hand people think competition is important for a good life. Being a competitive person is a good thing because in this way you can learn how to fight or how a person can deal difficult situation once encounter. For example, in my school their was a spelling bee compitition one of my friend participated. She was an average student and everyone was shocked that how come she got selected for this game. She was preparing day and night just to prove everyone that she is capable of doing this. At the time of final round she was nervous but eventually she won first prize. Competition is a pressure period in which individual has to complete certain task in order to show up. Like at our workplace, the employee shows their work pregress when they do work under pressure.

On the contrary, some people believe cooperation is the key to success. It is observed that people who work together grow together. As when people work as team it maintain a person's mental and physical health strong. No pressure, no limitation do what makes you feel is the best adds boost to the task.

To conclude, i strongly agree that competiton in important for career and also you can achieve this with claim and cooperation among your people. This will not only add in growth but also increase the dovelopment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on competition and cooperation and providing a personal opinion, although the stance in the conclusion slightly conflicts with the introduction, stating an agreement with competition while mentioning cooperation. Ideas are generally relevant, such as the example of the spelling bee and workplace performance, but some parts are under-developed or lack extension. The response meets the minimum length requirement, and the main arguments regarding both perspectives are presented clearly. To achieve a higher band, the writer should ensure their position remains completely consistent throughout and expand more deeply on the arguments rather than relying on brief supporting examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response features a clear overall arrangement with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing both views, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to divide the distinct themes. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, such as the abrupt transition in the introduction ('Whereas, some argue... I frimly agree on this view. I will discuss below...'). Referencing and logical connectors are occasionally misused, and the conclusion contains contradictory cohesive linking ('competiton in important for career and also you can achieve this with claim and cooperation'). Overall, the text flows reasonably well, but the logical links between ideas require better control.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases like 'deal difficult situation once encounter' and 'work pregress'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the essay, including 'frimly' instead of firmly, 'compitition' instead of competition, and 'dovelopment' instead of development. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect limitations in lexical control. To improve, the student needs to expand their control of word forms, collocations, and ensure accurate spelling of common academic vocabulary items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles and prepositions ('deal difficult situation once encounter', 'in my school their was a spelling bee compitition'), fragment sentences ('No pressure, no limitation do what makes you feel is the best adds boost to the task'), and punctuation slips. Although the meaning remains mostly clear to the reader despite these errors, the high frequency of basic and complex structural inaccuracies prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.
