Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, growing technology has rapidly increased more competitions in the market among people. Some people contemplate that competitions at work, school or in daily life is a benefit, whereas others believe that we should try to cooperate more despite competing against each other. This essay will discuss both the views and later I will give my opinion

On the one hand, people are competing with each other because they want to be more popular and felt proud while they surpassed someone in a particular field. In an organizations, employers always compete with their colleagues to show the work to their manager, as a result getting compensation in return from manager. In schools, many students who always compete became the topper of the class because while they compete with each other they focused more on their studies by thinking to surpassed their competitors. It is a good thing among people to be compete with each other which always keep them focused, motivated and elated.

On the other hand, people think that despite competing with each other, we should try to cooperate more because in some cases if the people took serious to compete, it will be dangerous. people showing aggresions towards their competitors for winning in a particular field which leds to fights among them. Sometime, the strong relationships can be also effected with competions. For instance, two best friends compete with each other in stuides but loose their friendship due to jealous among them. so, instead of competing with each other we should try to cooperate more to prevent from such loss.

To sum up, I firmly believe that people should try to cooperate more rather than competing against with each other. From my perspective, competing with each other is not a good thing for some extent, however if it increase your focused, keep you motivated and try to improve rather than showing aggression then it is a good thing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the views that competition is beneficial and that cooperation is preferable, while also providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are relevant, with examples provided for both perspectives, such as workplace dynamics and school environments. However, some ideas lack full extension and suffer from slight contradictions; for instance, the conclusion states a firm belief in cooperation, yet qualifies it by saying competition is good if it increases focus and motivation without aggression. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.0, as it addresses the prompt adequately but with under-developed and slightly contradictory line of reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into four standard paragraphs, showing a coherent overall arrangement with clear structural signposts like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, referencing and linking are occasionally awkward, as seen in phrases like 'people took serious to compete' and 'due to jealous among them'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the introduction, two body paragraphs, and conclusion, but logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by grammatical slips and awkward transitions, warranting a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'contemplate', 'compensation', 'elated', and 'aggression'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'growing technology has rapidly increased more competitions' instead of 'advancements in technology have heightened competition', 'felt proud while they surpassed someone', and 'loose their friendship' instead of 'lose'. Spelling errors like 'aggresions' and 'leds' also occur. These errors do not impede communication, placing the response at a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures frequently contain errors. Examples include 'competitions at work, school or in daily life is a benefit' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'prevent from such loss' (missing object/passive voice error). There are also frequent issues with articles, pluralisation, and tense consistency, such as 'if the people took serious to compete' and 'strong relationships can be also effected with competions'. Although these errors are noticeable and require the reader to occasionally re-read, they rarely impede overall communication, fitting the Band 5.5 to 6.0 profile well.
