Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's contemporary world, there is a debate about competition and cooperation are two fundamentals aspects of human interaction that plays an important role in education, employment and everyday life. While some people argue that competition helps indviduals to be perform better, others believe that cooperation is more beneficial for achieving common goals. This essay will discuss both views before providing my opinion.

On one hand, competitive environment has been widely supported for several reasons. Firslty, It help pushes people to be work harder and improve their perfomance in every aspect of life. For example, a student in any class is having some low grades than other smarter student and he will study harder to improve his grades to be more good in his studies to achieve his desired goals. Secondly, prepare people for real life, since the job market is itself more competitive. This suggests that to bring motivation and for foster more better skills to use in their everyday life it is a necassary demand. Therefore, many people believe that having rivilary in your everyday tasks is the most beneficial approach.

On the other hand, there are those who argue that teamwork is an essential part for the daily aspects. One of the main reasons is that it produces better results for situation like complex problems and coordination could help them in solving those complications. For example, medical research teams investing in their time to produce some better results to overcome the desired obstacle, while doing work in coordination they will get better results instead of indvidual's resarching on them. Additionaly, it builds more trust and releationship between colleagues and teammates. Such as, university projects can consume more energy and by dividing the tasks and through their mates cooperation they can have better results and can achieve without stress and anxiety. Consequently, proponents of cooperative surroundings emphasizes effective results by them.

In my opinion, neither competition nor cooperation is sufficient alone; an balances approach is a useful tool in any working environment. Competitive surroundings can help to develop more creativity while through cooperation it could be more easy to approach any working aspect.

In conclusion, while competition encourages hard work and innovation, coopeartion fosters collaboration and wellbeing. A combination of both applied to relative context, is likely to produce most positive outcomes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on competition and cooperation and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. The position is maintained throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as discussing how competition drives hard work and how teamwork aids in complex problem solving. However, the development of some ideas tends to be repetitive or slightly generalized, particularly in the second paragraph where sentences like 'to be more good in his studies' lack sophisticated elaboration. Examples are provided, such as medical research teams and university projects, which support the discussion effectively. Overall, the response meets the requirements of a Band 6.5 to 7.0 for Task Achievement, aligning well with the Band 7 descriptor for addressing all parts and presenting a clear position with extended ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised with a clear overall progression from the introduction, through body paragraphs discussing each viewpoint, to the writer's opinion and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately, separating the opposing views and the final perspective distinctly. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader through the text, although some transitional phrasing feels slightly mechanical or repetitive ('Such as', 'Consequently'). Referencing is mostly clear, though occasional awkward phrasing creates slight bumps in flow. This performance fits comfortably within Band 6.5 to 7.0; clear logical organisation and progression are demonstrated throughout, warranting a Band 6.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate and generally appropriate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'contemporary world', 'coordination', 'proponents', and 'innovation'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, awkward word choices, and morphological slips throughout the text, such as 'fundamentals aspects', 'indviduals to be perform', 'to be more good', 'foster more better skills', 'rivilary', 'indvidual's resarching', 'an balances approach', and 'coopeartion'. While these errors do not impede communication, they demonstrate limitations that prevent the score from reaching a higher band. The vocabulary is sufficient for flexibility and precision in some places, but slips in word formation and collocation are frequent enough to place this securely at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures (e.g., 'While some people argue that...', 'For example, a student in any class is having some low grades...'). However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense usage, prepositions, and article placement, such as 'competition and cooperation are two fundamentals aspects... that plays', 'is having some low grades than other smarter student', 'investing in their time', 'while doing work in coordination', and 'it could be more easy'. Although many sentences can be understood without difficulty, the persistent errors across basic and complex structures mean that error-free sentences are not frequent enough for Band 7.0, making Band 6.0 an accurate assessment.
