Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many individuals consider competitaion as a better thing at school, work and in daily life. While others believe people should work together instead of competitive behaviour. I believe that cooperating sysytem is more benificial for people. In this eassy, I will discuss both views.

On the one hand, the people who support competition argue that, it makes people more hard working. For instance, in school children makes more effort to become more superior than others. Sometimes it is encourging at work places as well, because most of the colleagues shoews better performances due to the achievment of the others.

On the other hand, people think working together make environment more relaible for eveyone. Most of the people are struggling with their work and at this experties should help them. While this trend make people less stressfull.Competition sometimes creat hate among people.

In my opinion, i prefer coopertion instead of competition it is because, personaly i feel happier after helping other. This can give us a chance to make other less disoppointed. It is benificial for socitey as well, due to the peacfull atmoshpere at work or in daily life. Secondly, I support this opinion due to reduse hater among kids in school For example,a lot of pupils does not like their mates because they get higher grades in school.

In conclusion, competition is important as the coopertion. However a balance is crucial for both. Competition should b allow only when people are more understand one another and they learn more instead of hating others.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view supporting competition and the view supporting cooperation, while also presenting a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as competition driving hard work and cooperation fostering a peaceful environment. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly in the body paragraphs and the conclusion. For instance, the discussion on school children and grades is briefly stated without deeper extension. Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 6, where all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, but some remain under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, including an introduction, two body paragraphs discussing opposing views, a personal opinion paragraph, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The student attempts to use transition markers like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', but referencing and linking within sentences are sometimes unclear or awkward, as seen in phrases like 'While this trend make people less stressfull.' Paragraphing is present, but logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by abrupt shifts and repetitive sentence structures. This places the response firmly at Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas about competition and cooperation. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'atmosphere' and 'expertise', but these are accompanied by frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'competitaion', 'sysytem', 'benificial', 'eassy', 'encourging', 'shoews', 'achievment', 'relaible', 'stressfull', 'creat', 'coopertion', 'personaly', 'disoppointed', 'socitey', 'peacfull', 'atmoshpere', 'reduse', 'hater', 'allow', and 'understand'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader, matching the Band 5 descriptors for lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are numerous errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and word forms, such as 'competition as a better thing', 'children makes', 'colleagues shoews', 'working together make', 'this trend make', 'Competition sometimes creat', 'coopertion instead of competition it is because', 'pupils does not like', and 'Competition should b allow'. These frequent errors require the reader to occasionally decode the meaning, though communication is not completely impeded. This performance corresponds to a Band 5 score.
