Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some society members believes that competition at work place , at education institutes and in everyday life is a great thing. On the other side some individuals think that we should not compete with each other and stay in such a way like helping each other in various matters. In the following paragraphs I will give my opinion with several examples.

First of all, those people who thinks that competition is important at office or any other work place , educational spaces and in daily life activities. Because there are many reasons behind this thinking. By participating in competition is good for health especially for mental health. For instance, people who work in a office they get a task from their manager or CEO and manager told who resolve this problem they will get a cash prize. Hence proves it will become helpful for brain storming.

Secondly, people who thinks that we should try to cooperate instead of competing each other. It has some reasons like people become more polite with each other they can help without any jealousy and they also learn several techniques from each other. The negative point of competing is that people becomes enemies just because of little competition. There are some other positive points about cooperating with someone. For example people can work easily in a same roof with clear heart. In this way community sounds very soft and peaceful.

From my prespective, people who believes cooperation is vital as compared to competing someone i also believe the same way like them and i think competition is also important for growth of society but even this my vote goes to second paragraphs people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the benefits of competition and the reasons for cooperation, while also providing a personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the paragraph supporting competition relies on a single, simplistic example of a cash prize and brain storming, while the cooperation paragraph touches on politeness and peaceful communities without deep extension. The position is stated, but the arguments remain basic and under-developed. Therefore, this performance aligns closely with Band 5.5 to 6.0 descriptors, comfortably earning a Band 6.0 for addressing all task requirements with relevant, albeit basic, ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Basic cohesive devices are used, such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'From my prespective'. However, cohesion is frequently mechanical and faulty. For example, the sentence 'Because there is many reasons behind this thinking' is structurally incomplete and functions poorly as a dependent clause. Furthermore, referencing and paragraph transitions lack smooth progression, particularly in the final paragraph where sentences are run-on and grammatically disjointed ('...i also believe the same way like them and i think competition is also important for growth of society but even this my vote goes to second paragraphs people'). These issues place the response firmly in the Band 5 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts regarding work and society. However, there are numerous word choice and collocation errors, such as 'work place' instead of 'workplace', 'education institutes' instead of 'educational institutions', and 'brain storming' written as two words. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary like 'prespective' and 'cooperation', but spelling and morphological inaccuracies are noticeable ('becomes' instead of 'become', 'prespective' instead of 'perspective'). Because the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey meaning despite noticeable errors, it fits the Band 5.0 descriptors well.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. The majority of sentences are simple or attempt complex forms that result in major structural errors, such as fragment sentences ('Because there are many reasons behind this thinking.') and severe subject-verb agreement issues ('Some society members believes', 'people becomes'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing commas and run-on sentences in the conclusion. Frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and impede the flow of communication at times. These persistent inaccuracies and limited structure variety restrict the grammar score to Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
