The position is clear throughout, aligning well with the expectations of a Band 6.0 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

Paragraphing is utilised, although some transitional phrases and cohesive devices are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In this paragraph, advantages of having a competitive spirit are explained.' Referencing is generally clear, but occasional clunky transitions between sentences, such as 'tThus, working cooperatively help', disrupt the natural flow of ideas. Overall progression is present, fitting a Band 6.0 descriptor.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases like 'mutual growth', 'peak performance', and 'cooperative behaviour'. However, there are noticeable word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'copperation' instead of cooperation, 'tThus' for thus, and awkward phrasing like 'dodge tricky situation'. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not significantly impeded, reflecting the characteristics of a Band 6.0 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional or relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'fellow student is' instead of students, and 'help people making' instead of make. Run-on sentences and punctuation slips also occur, such as 'track athletes run for the finish line, it forces them'.
