Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response suffers significantly from length penalties, as it contains only 123 words, falling well short of the 250-word minimum requirement for Task 2. Consequently, it only partially addresses the prompt. While the introduction attempts to outline both views and briefly hints at the writer's opinion, the body paragraph only discusses the benefits of competition and abruptly cuts off mid-sentence without addressing the second view on cooperation or fully developing the student's own stance. Because the response is severely underdeveloped and incomplete, it cannot progress beyond Band 4 for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay lacks clear overall organisation and progression due to its fragmentary nature. Although some cohesive devices such as 'on the one hand', 'for example', and 'furthermore' are attempted, their effectiveness is undermined by severe mechanical errors and a lack of proper paragraph development. The response lacks a concluding paragraph and stops mid-thought in the second paragraph. Referencing and logical sequencing break down as the text terminates prematurely. Paragraphing is insufficient because the second paragraph attempts to cram multiple ideas without logical separation or completion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text. Examples include 'arguad' for argued, 'compering' for competing, 'wheares' for whereas, 'thinks' for think, 'eassy' for essay, 'simillarly' for similarly, and 'efficiantly' for efficiently. These errors occasionally strain the reader and reflect a limited lexical range. While the student attempts some topic-related vocabulary such as 'motivated', 'workplace', and 'ambitious', the high frequency of inaccurate word forms and spelling mistakes restricts the score to Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. The student attempts complex sentences, but these are frequently faulty, containing punctuation errors, missing articles, and severe structural breakdowns (e.g., 'This eassy will be discuss both views and explain why I think that cooperation healthy competition can also have advantages' and 'real life situations become they learn how to deal with challenges and setbacks. therefor , a reasonable level become more ambitious and productive'). Punctuation is misused, capitalization is frequently neglected at the start of sentences, and many sentences are grammatically incomplete or incoherent. Frequent errors impede understanding in places.
