Student answer (Band 5.0)

This essay is about competition in daily life like at work and at school is good thing or cooperation is more good despite of competing against each other.

At first talking about competition in everyday life , it is very common in modern life. There are so much competition in every kind of stages. It has some benefits like people can be motivated by competitions, they work hard for stay in competition which is good their work or anything. For example peoples nowadays are working harder or smarter than past generation it is because of competition. But in my opinion competition make everyday life less peaceful and more focused or harder which is wrong . People are too much into competition that they can not get time to relax, fun or enjoy their life .

And then coming to cooperate part ,i geniunely agree with that people should cooperate more. Life is beautiful ,everyone should enjoy their life by their own will. But in modern time people are so busy with work, school and daily life as there are various competition in every place that people have to work so hard to reach their goals. For that they are not able to make time for friends ,family or any trips and there are many fun ,pretty things to do in such life but they can not just because of competition . If people are more concern about cooperation ignore that part of competition with each other life will be more relaxing and peaceful. For example study finds that those who are serious in life always do competition with others are no happy in their life on the other hand those who are more cooperative are happy in life.

So after all of that we can say that cooperative thinking is more good rather than competiton.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to discuss both views on competition and cooperation and provides a personal opinion, which satisfies the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion of competition mainly focuses on stress and lack of leisure time, while the cooperation section reiterates similar points about enjoying life. The position is stated, but the support lacks depth and extension, preventing the essay from reaching a higher band. Ideas are relevant, but some are under-developed, aligning the response with the Band 5 level descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the overall organization and logical progression are hindered by basic transitions such as 'At first talking about' and 'And then coming to cooperate part'. Cohesive devices are used rather mechanically and sometimes inappropriately. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow of ideas within paragraphs lacks seamless transitions. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use referring back to vague concepts. Overall, the structure shows some organization but lacks clear overall progression, placing it firmly in Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses a limited vocabulary range that is minimally adequate for the task, with frequent repetition of basic words such as 'competition', 'cooperate', 'life', and 'good'. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'cooperation is more good' and 'study finds that those who are serious in life always do competition'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted vocabulary control, which is characteristic of Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex forms. Frequent grammatical errors occur throughout the text, including missing articles ('stay in competition', 'for friends'), incorrect verb forms ('people are so concern'), and run-on sentences ('There are so much competition...'). These frequent errors and the lack of complex sentence control frequently impede communication and place the essay at a Band 4.5 or 5.0, best represented by a 5.0.
