Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is severely under-length, containing only 98 words against the required minimum of 250 words. This significantly impacts task achievement because the prompt asks to 'Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.' While the student attempts to introduce both sides ('competition' and 'cooperate') and states an opinion ('In my opinion, coperate with other are more benifical'), the development is cut extremely short, trailing off mid-sentence ('As an eptiome, in this smart'). Consequently, the main parts of the task are only partially addressed, leading to an under-developed response that fails to meet the basic length and development requirements of a Band 5 or higher.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text shows some basic organizational structure with introductory framing and transition attempts like 'Firstly' and 'Futhermore'. However, the abrupt cut-off in the second paragraph severely hinders overall coherence and progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but sentences often lack logical connection due to severe language errors. Referencing is unclear, and cohesive devices are inadequate or mechanically applied, matching the characteristics of a Band 4 response where information and ideas are not arranged cohesively.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, featuring frequent spelling and word-choice errors that impede communication. Examples include 'coperate' instead of cooperate, 'benifical' instead of beneficial, 'compitation' instead of competition, and 'eptiome' instead of epitome. The student attempts some less common topics but lacks control over word formation and spelling, restricting the vocabulary to a level that strains the reader, aligning with the Band 4 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple structures with frequent and severe errors. Examples of faulty grammar include 'competition are normal' (subject-verb agreement error), 'everyone wants to take higher position' (missing article), and 'their is compitation' (confusing 'their' with 'there'). Complex structures are not successfully utilized, and errors are frequent throughout the short text, sometimes distorting meaning and causing difficulty for the reader, which fits the Band 4 criteria.
