Student answer (Band 6.0)
Competition with other in daily life is a very controversial issue. It is believed by some people that competing with other at school, jobs and in daily life is a good thing and some individuals think that everybody should cooperate more. I shed both views along with my opinion for which vindication would be elaborated in upcoming paragraph.
To commence with, there are many reasons associated within the favour of competition. The first and foremost is, getting best out of a person. To explain, agressiveness take out best from a person, if any person competes with anyone he or she will want to win in any situation. For example, taking a example from cricket Virat Kohli is a big name in cricket. He is best because he cometes with everyone on the field and it takes best out of him.
Moving further, it also have some negetive side which cannot be neglacted. Cooperation is must at work because team work can improve your skills as well. To elaborate, sometimes you get to learn a lot of things from the highly skilled person from the team. Moreover, coopertaion at work leads to fast growth of the company.
However, cooperation tests a person`s bearing ability because he has to control his anger or aggressiveness to be cooperative.
In conclusion, while competition at school and work derives personal growth, innovation and high performance, competition fosters teamwork, empathy and collective success. In my view, neither approach should be used in isolation. The best outcome comes from a healthy balance where individuals use competition as a tool for self-improvement while maintaining a cooperative spirit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views regarding competition and cooperation, presenting a clear position in the conclusion. The introduction outlines the writer's intent, and the body paragraphs discuss the arguments for both sides. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and occasionally simplistic. For instance, the argument about competition is supported primarily by a single specific example of a cricketer, Virat Kohli, rather than broader societal or workplace trends. Similarly, the discussion on cooperation in the third paragraph shifts abruptly and lacks deep elaboration. The conclusion also contains a slight contradiction, stating that 'competition fosters teamwork' rather than attributing that to cooperation. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, but ideas require greater extension and support to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall progression and is divided into logical paragraphs, including an introduction, two distinct body paragraphs covering the opposing views, and a conclusion. Transitional markers such as 'To commence with', 'Moving further', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the essay. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For instance, the referencing and connection of ideas in the third paragraph are disjointed, moving between cooperation and the mental strain of controlling anger without smooth transitions. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion of sentences and phrases needs more flexibility and precision to achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas, but it is limited and marred by noticeable spelling and word choice errors. Examples of lexical errors include 'agressiveness' (aggressiveness), 'cometes' (competes), 'negetive' (negative), 'neglacted' (neglected), and 'coopertaion' (cooperation). The student attempts some less common vocabulary items such as 'vindication' and 'self-improvement', but frequent spelling mistakes and minor collocation inaccuracies constrain the score. While the range is sufficient to convey basic arguments, the high frequency of surface-level errors prevents the writing from reaching the Band 7 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'It is believed by some people that competing with other at school...'. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent throughout the text. There are several noticeable errors, including missing pluralization ('competing with other'), incorrect prepositions ('associated within the favour', 'taking a example'), and issues with subject-verb agreement or article usage ('it also have some negetive side', 'Cooperation is must'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to restrict the response to a Band 5.5 or 6.0, fitting best at Band 5.5 due to the density of basic structural and agreement slips.
