Student answer (Band 6.5)

The trends of capitalism have been changing in the contemporary era of globalization. The race of capitalism makes people to work hard just to win from others. Whereas, there is a significant number of individuals who believe that cooperation and coordination is more imperative than competing with each other at social institutions. This essay will discuss both viewpoints along with the explanation of my opinion in this regard.

The individuals who suuport the competition at office, schools and routine life are really obsessed with taking over the competition. This group of people believe that winning in all areas of life is the best way to prove yourself in front of all people. For instance, a father who is the CEO of a company wants his children to be more efficient than him in order to make sure that his company's future is in safe hands.

Whereas, there is another group of individuals who support the idea that coordination among people carries more significance than the idea of winning the race of competition. According to the analysis of these people, cooperation mechanisms and frameworks assist in the regulation of supportive environment at the public places. For instance, a student who is weak in mathematics needs the assistance of those students who have efficient knowledge of this subject. The cooperation among students will help the weak student to perform better in his weak areas. It will also give them an opportunity to connect with each other while getting imperative improvement in their studies, personalities and daily life.

In my personal opinion, cooperative environments help individuals to experience a significant growth in their life. It also encourages people to become a resposible citizens who can take care of each other. I also believe that trends of capitalism contribute to significant factors of lack of empathy in individuals who practice the ritual of winning all their life instead of offering a helping hand to others. On the contrary, cooperative environment ensures strong work ethic and leads to the personality development of individuals. Keeping in view all theses aspects, I strongly believe that cooperation is far more efficient than always winning the first place in every social institution.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view that competition is beneficial and the alternative view that cooperation should be prioritised. A clear personal position is established in the introduction and maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the comparison between the father CEO who wants his children to succeed and the student needing help in mathematics. However, the development of ideas tends to over-generalize slightly in places, and some arguments regarding capitalism lack deeper analytical depth. Despite these minor limitations, the task is comprehensively addressed, earning a solid Band 7.0 for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay demonstrates clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct central topic, starting with an introduction, followed by body paragraphs discussing each viewpoint, and concluding with a clear personal stance. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well, such as "Whereas," "For instance," and "On the contrary," although referencing and transitions can occasionally feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on "this group of people" or "these people." Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to structure the essay logically, placing this response comfortably at Band 6.5 or 7.0; overall, clear progression warrants a Band 7.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate and at times ambitious range of vocabulary suitable for an academic task, with terms like "contemporary era of globalization," "imperative," "supportive environment," and "personality development." However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices or collocations, such as "suuport" (spelling error), "win from others" instead of "win against others" or "outperform others," and "imperative improvement." Less common vocabulary is attempted with varying degrees of success. These minor slips and occasional unnatural phrasing place the lexical resource score at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including relative clauses and conditional-style constructions. There are, however, several grammatical errors and awkward phrasing that persist throughout the text. Examples include "The race of capitalism makes people to work hard" (incorrect verb complementation with 'make'), spelling errors like "suuport," and slight agreement issues such as "a resposible citizens" (article and pluralisation mismatch). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the grammar score from reaching a higher band. Control is generally maintained, securing a Band 6.0.
