Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on competition and cooperation and providing a personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes repetitive. For instance, the discussion on school competition simply states that students want 'higher marks from others in their life', which is under-developed. Similarly, the example of company competition lacks clarity due to phrasing issues. The writer's position is discernible, but the overall depth places this performance firmly in Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, showing an attempt at structure. However, there is a lack of clear progression, and cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, such as 'to commence with', 'First and formost', and 'On the paradoxical side'. Referencing is often unclear, particularly pronouns like 'they' and 'them', which makes it difficult to follow who is being referred to in sentences like 'if we cooprate with each other we friendly fast time and cooperate to them'. Therefore, Coherence and Cohesion aligns with Band 4.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with numerous spelling and word-choice errors that strain the reader, such as 'coopration', 'reather', 'confabulate', 'formost', 'motivited', 'acheive', 'though' (for tough), and 'resanable'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and attempts to use less common items—such as 'confabulate'—result in unnatural collocations or inappropriate usage. This demonstrates the characteristics of Band 4 lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The writer attempts some complex sentence forms, but they are frequently faulty and contain severe grammatical errors throughout, such as 'many individual think that competition on their work good' and 'there are umpteen points can mentioned to shore up my poiunt of view.' Punctuation and word-order errors are pervasive, and grammatical inaccuracies frequently impede communication, reflecting the descriptors for Band 4.
